December 5, 2002 Sponsorship for BCA Zonal Tournament
The BCA announced today an agreement with sponsors for its Zonal Tournament as follows: -
§ Arawak Cement Co. Ltd. as title sponsors. § Barbados National Bank as team sponsors of the Western Blasters and § Pine Hill Dairies of the Eastern Pirates § Barbados Manufacturers’ Association under the 100% Bajan Programme will provide individual awards.
The Tournament will now be titled the Arawak Cement Cup and participating teams will now be known as: -
§ Pine Hill Eastern Pirates § BNB Western Blasters § Northern Pelicans § Southern Blazers
Sponsorship for the Northern Pelicans and the Southern Blazers can not be announced at this time.
The teams are competing for the Arawak Cement Cup and total prize money available will be $29,500.00. The winning team will receive $15,000.00, the runners-up $5,000.00 and there will be consolation awards of $1,500 each. In addition there will be individual awards for: -
§ Man of the Match § Batsman with most runs § Bowler with most wickets § MVP of the Tournament The Man of the Match awards and the MVP of the Tournament will be adjudicated by the Manager/Coach Committee.
The Tournament matches are scheduled to be played tomorrow beginning at 10:00a.m. with the Northern Pelicans vs. the Pine Hill Eastern Pirates at Crab Hill and the Southern Blazers playing the BNB Western Blasters at Weymouth.
The Arawak Cement Cup will be presented to the BCA tomorrow by the Arawak Cement Co. Ltd. at North Stars at 12 noon.
