Bridgetown, Barbados, May 18 - (www.bcacricket.org) - Two batsmen hit centuries and another two narrowly missed out in Series 3 of the BCA Super Cup Championship.
The century-makers were Athelbert Brathwaite of IGS Insurance Brokers Yorkshire and Spartan’s Akeem Springer.
Brathwaite slammed 122 off 88 balls including 14 fours and six sixes as Yorkshire amassed the highest total of the series - 346 for seven off 50 overs - against ESA Field Pickwick, who were beaten by 55 runs at Friendship in Zone ‘A’.
Captain Armani Best scored 84 off 60 balls containing six fours and four sixes and Akeem Nero, 69.
Experienced leg-spinner Tariq Hoyte then grabbed six for 51 as Pickwick were bowled out for 291 in 44.5 overs.
Springer hit 104 not out off 105 balls with nine fours and three sixes to help Spartan to a nine-wicket win over Foundation at Queen’s Park in Zone ‘B’.
Chasing 186, Spartan triumphed in 35.4 overs. Barbados Pride captain Shamarh Brooks made an unbeaten 69.
In Zone ‘A’, Zachary McCaskie scored 97 in a total of 245 all out off 45.5 overs by Wildey, who beat BDFSP by 119 runs at Paragon.
And Rovman Powell lashed 95 as defending champions Sagicor Life UWI piled up 345 for seven against Wanderers at 3Ws Oval. UWI won easily by 209 runs.
In Zone ‘B’, Police left-arm spinner Ravendra Persaud took five for 15 to help dismiss Combermere for 127 in 36.5 overs at Waterford ‘A’.
Police were victorious by five wickets.
