Bridgetown, Barbados, November 25 - (www.bcacricket.org) - The scheduled fifth round Digicel Regional first-class match between Barbados Pride and Windward Islands Volcanoes, scheduled for December 16 to 19 at Kensington Oval, has been switched to Windsor Park in Dominica, the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) announced this afternoon.
The WICB did not give a reason in its release but the Barbados Cricket Association later said that the decision to switch the match was taken as a "cautionary measure in ensuring the best possible conditions for cricket".
"The Barbados Cricket Association in consultation with the West Indies Cricket Board and the Windward Islands Cricket Board made the determination, due to the effects of the increased activities occurring at Kensington Oval during the November/December period," the BCA said in a Press release.
As a result of the switch, the Round 7 match between the two sides scheduled to be played at the Grenada National Stadium, March 10–13, 2017, will now be contested at Kensington.
Effectively, all five of Barbados Pride's matches in the second phase will be played at Kensington, a world-famous ground.
