Barbados demolish North Windwards by 181 runs to move to the top in WICB Women's Championship

Port-of-Spain, Trinidad, August 12 - (www.bcacricket.org) - Barbados demolished a very weak North Windward Islands side by 181 runs to register their third win in four matches as they moved to the top of the Points table with one round remaining ahead of Sunday's Final in the WICB Women's Super50 Championship.

Playing at Macaulay Park in Couva, the Barbados batting fell away after a second wicket partnership of 126 in 26.1 overs between Malissa Howard and Kyshona Knight before being bowled out for 201 in 44.2 overs.

North Windwards were then undermined by the pace of Shamelia Connell and Shakera Selman, who took a hat-trick, and crumbled for only 20 in 12.1 overs.

Knight topscored with 65 off 84 balls including seven fours and two sixes, while Howard, in easily her best knock of the Tournament following scores of three against defending champions Jamaica and nought against South Windward Islands, made 62 off 97 deliveries with five boundaries.

Once they were parted, the last eight wickets tumbled for 35 runs in 12.2 overs.

Roylyn Cooper took five for 31 off ten overs.

Selman, who has been in excellent form with the ball, then grabbed six for 16 off six overs and Connell took four for eight off 6.1 overs.

In the other matches, Jamaica stepped up their bid for a place in the Final with a crucial 19-run win over pre-series leaders Trinidad & Tobago at the National Cricket Centre, while South Windwards beat Guyana by seven wickets at Gilbert Park.
