Barbados crush South Windwards by 102 runs in Round 3 of WICB Women's Tournament

Port-of-Spain, Trinidad, August 10 - (www.bcacricket.org) - Barbados kept on course for a place in the final of the WICB Women's Super50 Tournament with an easy 102-run win over South Windward Islands at the National Cricket Centre in Couva.

Paved by an opening partnership of 56 in 8.5 overs between current West Indies Women players Kycia Knight and Hayley Matthews, Barbados made 212 for eight off 50 overs after winning the toss.

Kycia Knight's twin sister, Kyshona, who has also played internationally, topscored with 42 off 62 balls with three fours, at No. 3.

Matthews was first dismissed for 22 off 31 balls and Kycia Knight scored 36 from 58 deliveries including four boundaries before losing her wicket with the score 86 in the 19th over.

After a third wicket stand of 41 in ten overs between Kyshona Knight and the experienced West Indies Women's all-rounder Deandra Dottin (11), both fell in successive balls.

Captain Shaquana Quintyne and fast bowler Shakera Selman, also both international players, beefed up the total by scoring 25 each.

Player-of-the-Match Selman, who has been in good form with the ball, returned to grab three for 16 off nine overs after coming on as the last of eight bowlers as South Windwards were limited to 102 for nine.

Kelia Elliott picked up two for 25 off nine overs.

Opener Cordel Jack, a 33-year-old former West Indies Women's player, topscored with 29 not out off 85 balls. She had retired hurt with the score 15 for one after 4.3 overs.

Barbados also won their opening match against holders Jamaica by 32 runs before rain prevented a ball from being bowled against Guyana.

In the other third round matches, Jamaica swept aside North Windward Islands by 116 runs at Gilbert Park and Trinidad & Tobago beat Guyana by six wickets at Macaulay Park.
