Police capture BCA Upper Intermediate division title after rain-ruined last series

Bridgetown, Barbados, November 26 – (www.bcacricket.org) - Seven Seas Police are the champions of the Barbados Cricket Association (BCA) Upper Intermediate division competition.

As was the case on the opening day, not a ball was bowled in any of the five matches on the third and final day of the ninth and final round today because of rain.

Persistent showers over the last 24 hours left the outfields waterlogged, resulting in no-decisions in all five matches.

Police, who began with 39 points, finished on 40 points. The Weymouth-based team will be back in the Division 1 championship next season after being demoted in 2010. Their other rivals, CounterPoint Wanderers and Ince Transport MTW, ended on 35 and 33 points respectively.

It is the second title for Police this season after they won the Sagicor General Shield last month when they defeated BRC BCL in the final at Desmond Haynes Oval.

Old Brigand Dover were the last team from the lower divisions to do the double in 2009, before they were promoted to Division 1 the following year. Unfortunately, Dover, Alexandra and Pine Hill Dairy St. John Cultural have been demoted to the Intermediate division for 2012.
