Heavy overnight and persistent morning rain resulted in the loss of the opening day’s play of the 2008 BCA Goddards Enterprises Schools’ final between Alexandra and Probin Properties St. Leonard’s at the Cable & Wireless ground, Wildey, on Saturday, November 15. There were puddles of water especially at the northern end of the ground and play was officially called off at 1: 15 p.m after umpires Clifford Clarke and Adrian Nurse, along with reserve Reginald Austin, made an inspection just after the scheduled 1: 00 p.m start. The three-day match continues next Saturday and Sunday. Rain also dealt a telling blow to the opening day’s play of the BCA Intermediate division semi-finals. There was no play at Queen’s Park between defending champions Inspire Sports Wanderers and ELD Belleplaine, while only 1.1 overs were possible at Black Rock as Mount Gay North Stars reached four without loss against Windward after they were invited to bat. Both matches continue next Saturday and Sunday.
