Castries, St. Lucia, July 26 – (www.bcacricket.org) - Customary whipping boys Windward Islands captured the 2010 TCL Group West Indies Under-19 three-day Challenge title here today after beating Leeward Islands by seven wickets.

Set 135 for victory on the third and final day of the fifth and last round of matches at Beausejour, Windward Islands, who had conceded a 16-run first innings lead, triumphed 12 minutes before tea at 2.28 p.m.

They scored 137 for three off 43 overs as Kavem Hodge led the way with an unbeaten 69 off 103 balls, including nine fours.

It was only the second time the Windwards had won the coveted trophy. The other success was in 2000 in Guyana.

The Windwards went into that match as front-runners on 27 points – three ahead of last year’s double crown champions Jamaica. The win, therefore, meant that they finished with 39 points.

There was also a victory for Trinidad & Tobago over Guyana by 133 runs at Dennery today. That match finished at 2.06 p.m.

Jamaica were led on first innings by Barbados by 12 runs as the match ended in a tame draw at Gros Islet. Play was called off at 4.05 p.m.
