Region & WICB News - Bridgetown, Barbados, March 31 - ( - West Indies Test and One-Day International captain Jason Holder won the President’s award at the Barbados Cricket Association’s (BCA) awards ceremony and dinner at Mahogany Ridge, St. Thomas, on Friday night.

Fast bowling all-rounder Holder was outstanding in his last eight Test matches, scoring 565 runs at an average of 51.36. His highest score was a career-best 202 not out against England at Kensington Oval in the first Test in January as West Indies triumphed by 381 runs with a day to spare.

In the period under review, Holder took 40 wickets at 13.35 runs apiece with a best of six for 59 against Bangladesh at Sabina Park in Jamaica last July.

He also played in 20 ODIs, scoring 453 runs (ave: 30.20) and taking 28 wickets.

Holder emulated his fellow Barbadian Sir Garfield Sobers in achieving the top spot among all-rounders in the ICC Test rankings in late January.

He was the first West Indian to be ranked No. 1 among Test all-rounders since Sobers held the top spot in March 1974 in the retrospective rankings.
