Under-15 Final between Foundation and Queen’s College put back by a week
Bridgetown, Barbados, July 22 - (www.bcacricket.org) - The Final of the BCA Under-15 Championship between title holders Foundation and Queen’s College at the Wanderers Club ground, Dayrells Road, Christ Church, has been put back by a week - July 30 to August 1.
It was originally slated for July 23-25 but some members of the Queen’s College team are currently on a cricket tour with the Husbands, St. James school to England.
In the semi-finals last week, Foundation beat Coleridge & Parry by six wickets at Briar Hall in Christ Church, while Queen’s College brushed aside last year’s finalists Milo Lodge by an innings and 35 runs at Weymouth in The City.
Foundation swept to the 2018 title with a resounding victory by an innings and 44 runs at Desmond Haynes Oval.
That success marked Foundation’s dominance over Lodge in Under-15 Finals since the turn of the century. It was the third time they were clashing with the Church Hill, Christ Church school also triumphing by a big margin of an innings and 120 runs in 2005 at Wildey when the long-standing Tournament was sponsored by Cable & Wireless, commonly known as well in subsequent years as Barbados External Telecommunications (BET), LIME and FLOW, and by an innings and two runs in 2016 at Desmond Haynes Oval.
Now, as far as Foundation-Queen’s College battles in junior Finals are concerned, it will be the second time in two months that they are having a showdown.
On May 30, Queen’s College captured the BCA Sir Everton Weekes Under-13 Championship by way of a faster scoring rate after rain ended play with the match set for a thrilling finish at Bank Hall.
After dismissing Foundation for 134 in 33.5 overs, Queen’s College were 129 for eight off 24 overs when rain swept across the ground.
Next week’s Under-15 Final will surely be eagerly awaited.
