“Salty” Stuart continues to impress for Westleigh
Manchester, England, July 18 - (www.bcacricket.org) - Barbadian all-rounder Jameel “Salty” Stuart continues to impress with the bat for Westleigh in the Greater Manchester League.
In mid-season after 11 matches, the former Barbados Under-19 team captain had scored 591 runs including two hundreds and four half-centuries, at an average of 73.88. His highest knock is an unbeaten 153 off Dukinfield.
And as an off-spinner, Stuart had picked up 16 wickets at 23 runs apiece.
A product of The St. Michael School, the 24-year-old Stuart started his major Barbados domestic career for Barbados Youth in 2012 and played two seasons before joining Spartan in 2014. He remained with the Queen’s Park club for one season before teaming up with the Barbados Defence Force Sports Programme (BDFSP) where he made an immediate impact.
In the 2015 Elite division three-day Championship, Stuart amassed 525 runs including three centuries and one fifty, at an average of 35.00 and to boot, took 27 wickets (ave: 19.25).
Last year was arguably one of his best from an all-round perspective as he scored 444 runs with one hundred and three half-centuries (ave: 49.33) and grabbed 41 wickets (ave: 15.95).
It marked the end of his stint with the Paragon-based, Christ Church BDFSP and he returned to Spartan for the 2019 season, playing in the Sagicor General Twenty20 Championship before taking up his current contract in England.
Stuart played five regional List A matches for Combined Campuses & Colleges (CCC) in 2018.
He is among a provisional list of 49 players named by Barbados Pride selectors in May to prepare for the 2019-20 Cricket West Indies season, which is scheduled to start in November.
