Barbados still at top of table despite no result v Leewards, CWI Under-17, R3, Update 3

Port-of-Spain, Trinidad, July 9 - (www.bcacricket.org) - Despite being frustrated by rain in a no result against the Leeward Islands  in Round 3 of the Cricket West Indies (CWI) Under-17 Championship today, title holders Barbados are still at the top of the table after their closest challengers Trinidad & Tobago dramatically lost by two runs to Jamaica. 

Only 14 overs were possible at the National Cricket Centre in Balmain-Couva as Barbados reached 54 for two after they were sent in. Play was called off at 1.55 p.m.

The rain had first stopped play with the score 38 for two off 10.1 overs.

Barbados lost the wickets of captain Nimar Bolden for nine and vice-captain Jaden Leacock (four).

The not out batsmen were Hakeem Perryman on 19 and Rivaldo Clarke (nine).

Both sides earned two points, pushing Barbados to 11 and leaving them as the only unbeaten team after Jamaica stunned Trinidad & Tobago  at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Tarouba.

Trinidad & Tobago are on 9.2 points, followed by Jamaica with 8.7, Leeward Islands 6.9, Windward Islands 5.5 and Guyana 0.2 (See full points table below).

Barbados won their first two matches against the Windward Islands by three wickets at Gilbert Park and against Guyana by seven wickets at Brian Lara Cricket Academy.

They next oppose Trinidad & Tobago at NCC on July 11 before climaxing against Jamaica at Gilbert Park on July 13.
