Centuries for Stuart, Greaves carry number to ten after Series 5 of BCA Super Cup
Bridgetown, Barbados, June 2 - (www.bcacricket.org) - Two match-winning centuries were scored in Series 5 of the BCA Super Cup Championship, carrying the number for the season to ten.
Jameel "Salty" Stuart slammed 124 for BDFSP who brushed aside Ince Transport MTW by 110 runs at Paragon in Zone ‘A’, and Richard Greaves hit 114 for Home Improvement & Hardware Supplies Maple against ESA Field Pickwick, who suffered a crushing 174-run defeat at Trents in Zone ‘B’.
It was a maiden hundred in the Tournament for left-hander Stuart and the second for Greaves, who scored 104 for Police against Spartan at Queen’s Park two years ago.
Stuart faced 103 balls and struck 11 fours and three sixes in a total of 285 for nine off 50 overs, while Greaves counted 14 threes and three fours in a 123-ball knock as Maple amassed 276 for six.
In a high-scoring match, defending champions CounterPoint Wanderers beat Barbados Cricket Supplies Barbados Youth by eight wickets with 8.3 overs remaining.
Barbados Youth scored 287 for seven off 50 overs after winning the toss.
Opener Shian Brathwaite topscored with 92 off 73 balls including six fours and eight sixes in a truncated innings. He retired hurt on 46 with the score 82 for one in the 17th over before being fifth out at 196 in the 41st.
Captain Joshua Bishop made 63 off 31 deliveries with eight fours and three sixes. Nico Reifer contributed 41 and Jadan Jones, 30.
Pacer Kevin McClean took two for 32, leg-spinner Nikolai Charles, two for 44 and medium-pacer Roshon Primus, two for 66.
Wanderers were put on course by Jason Greene and Shayne Moseley who added 134 in 19.1 overs for the first wicket before Greene fell for 63 off 61 balls with nine fours and two sixes.
Moseley scored 84 off 80 deliveries containing 12 fours and two sixes.
Jonathan Drakes, with an unbeaten 77 off 72 balls containing 12 fours and Kirk Edwards, 45 not out off 36 balls including four fours and two sixes enjoyed themselves in a stand of 107 off 13.1 overs.
Fortunes fluctuated before Gladiola beat Nicholls Baking Combermere by 30 runs.
After winning the toss, Gladiola recovered from eight for two in three overs and 100 for seven by the 24th over before they were bowled out for 178 in 40.4 overs.
Opener Aubrey Towler stood out with 58 off 84 balls including nine fours before he was seventh out.
Ryan Nurse, who lashed 25 off 21 balls and Micah Thornhill (27) led a recovery with an eighth wicket stand of 42.
Matthew Forde took three for 31, Shayon Blenman, three for 38 and Amari Goodridge, two for 32.
Combermere passed 100 with three wickets down but the last seven wickets tumbled for 42 runs in 14.3 overs as they were dismissed for 148 in 42.5 overs.
Ian Boyce made 39 off 58 balls with five fours at No. 4 before his dismissal by leg-spinner Hayden Walsh triggered the slump.
Boyce and Seth Agard (25) featured in third wicket stand of 42 - the best of the innings.
Pacer Nurse grabbed three for 12, Walsh, three for 30 and fast bowler, Rachid O’Neale, two for 25.
Jameel Stuart slammed a commanding century to help set up an easy win by 110 runs for BDFSP over MTW.
BDFSP, who won the toss, amassed 285 for nine off 50 overs.
Stuart made 124 off 103 balls including 11 fours and three sixes. He reached his century off 90 balls with ten fours and two sixes.
Vataly Wilkinson scored 40 and Lamar Joseph 27 not out.
Stefon Jordan took two for 33, Antonio Austin, two for 68 and Junior Holder, two for 70.
MTW were limited to 175 for eight.
Stephen Payne made 48, Demario Richards 30 and Raymond Kellman 29.
Demario Goodman took three for 41, Javon Grosvenor, two for 26 and Javed Leacock, two for 40.
Telling all-round performances from Kavem Hodge and Larry Edward propelled Sagicor Life UWI to a 53-run win against ICBL Empire as they remained the only unbeaten team.
Sent in, UWI recovered from 36 for three in the seventh over and 105 for five by the 28th over, to total 264 for nine off 50 overs.
Hodge missed out on a second century for the season when he fell for 96 off 130 balls including four boundaries.
He and Edward, who made 50 off 43 deliveries with five fours and one six, put on 80 in 10.1 overs for the seventh wicket.
Hodge and Nicholas Kirton (38) had added 69 in 20.4 overs for the fourth wicket.
Seamer Tennyson Roach took three for 37, Shaquille Cumberbatch, two for 29 and off-spinner Nekoli Parris, two for 34.
Empire were also under early pressure at 11 for three by the ninth over before they were restricted to 211 for eight.
Justin Greaves sustained his fine form with an unbeaten 90 off 108 balls containing five fours and one six.
Greaves and Andre Roach (40) added 67 in 18 overs for the fourth wicket and Greaves and Parris (32) put on 64 in 12.2 overs for the fifth.
Larry Joseph took three for 63, Hodge two for 23 and fellow left-arm spinner Edward, with whom he opened the bowling, two for 29.
Marrodon Bend hit a fine, unbeaten half-century and featured in an unbroken stand of 84 with Chad Williams to spur Massy Stores Spartan to a five-wicket victory over Lords.
Chasing 161, Spartan were in some bother at 82 for five after 21.4 overs before Bend and Williams ensured the win with as many as 15.5 overs to spare.
Bend led the way with 79 not out off the same number of balls, striking four fours and four sixes at No. 4, while Williams scored 27 not out off 42 deliveries.
Juval Hinds took two for 20 and left-arm spinner Kemar Stanford, two for 37.
Lords were bowled out for 160 in 44.1 overs after losing the toss.
Khalid Springer made 48 off 79 balls with one four and four sixes at No. 7 before he was last out, and his brother, Kemar Stanford 23.
Off-spinner Chaim Holder took three for 33, left-arm spinner Williams, two for 27 and leg-spinner Joshua Drakes, two for 29.
Kemal Smith and Renaldo Arthur struck half-centuries for Bayview Hospital YMPC, who beat Foundation by 91 runs.
Sent in, YMPC scored 263 for nine off 50 overs.
Kemal Smith made 68 off 109 balls with ten threes, while Arthur scored 54 off 63 deliveries including 12 threes.
Ryan Wiggins contributed 36, Dwayne Smith 24 and his brother Kemar Jabarry Smith, 20.
Foundation were bowled out for 172 in 42.1 overs.
Antonio Morris scored 49 off 39 balls including six threes and five fours and Jaden Edmund, 30.
Medium-pacer Dwayne Smith took two for 22 and Kemar Jabarry Smith, two for 27.
Again let down by their batting, Carlton lost by five wickets to Crane Resort St. Catherine.
Carlton were dismissed for 151 in 48 overs after they were sent in.
Kyle Mayers scored 41 off 59 balls with one four and two sixes at No. 3.
Adrian Caddle made 29 and Keon Harding 23 not out.
Kenroy Williams took three for 19, Dwayne Skeete, three for 29 and Alcindo Holder, two for 35 - all bowling off-spin.
St. Catherine raced to their target in only 25.3 overs.
Opener Neil Browne scored 51 off 80 balls with four boundaries and Chad Puckerin, 37 off 33 deliveries, hitting six fours.
The pair added 66 in 9.4 overs for the second wicket.
Matthew Jones took two for 30.
Richard Greaves hit a century and Shane Parris made 76 as Maple mauled Pickwick by 174 runs.
Maple scored 276 for six off 50 overs after winning the toss.
Greaves made 114 off 123 balls with 14 threes and three fours, while Parris’ knock came off 134 deliveries and included five threes.
Jamaican Leroy Lugg contributed 40.
Pacer Jared Gilkes took three for 49 and medium-pacer Jerome Stuart, two for 45.
Pickwick were bundled out for 102 in 38.2 overs with Gilkes scoring 27.
Jamar Griffith took two for 17 and fellow left-arm spinners Dario Greaves, two for 18 and Shaquane Cave, two for 34.
