Charles, Stuart reach bowling achievements in rain-hit Series 6 of BCA Elite division
Bridgetown, Barbados, October 12 - (www.bcacricket.org) - Despite the badly rain-ruined sixth series of matches in the BCA Elite division three-day Championship, there were at least two individual bowling accomplishments.
Jameel Stuart, the BDFSP captain and all-rounder, who bowls off-breaks, passed 100 wickets en route to a match haul of 13 for 63 (8-15 & 5-48) against Massy Stores Spartan, who won by 73 runs at Paragon.
Stuart, in his sixth season, now has 103 wickets.
And CounterPoint Wanderers leg-spinner Nikolai Charles, who has been playing in the top league since 2003, took his tally to 553 after picking up four for 79 against ESA Field Pickwick in a no-decision at Dayrells Road.
Charles has taken 50 wickets in a season on three occasions - 2006, 2009 and 2010.
His best showing was in 2009 when he was the leading wicket-taker with 85 at 15.98 runs each for LIME (now Gladiola).
So far this season, Charles has grabbed 32 scalps (ave: 14.00) including a career-best haul of nine for 26 in the second innings (match figures of 13 for 45) against Home Improvement & Hardware Supplies Maple in Series 2 at Trents.
Sagicor Life UWI opener Anthony Alleyne also had the satisfaction of scoring his second successive century of the season and fourth all told at this level.
Left-hander Alleyne made 129 in the drawn top-of-the-table clash against front-runners ICBL Empire at the 3Ws Oval.
