WICB Under-19 Three-Day championship

T&T set Barbados challenging 183 to win, CWI Under-19, R4, Day 2, Report, Scorecard, Update 4

Basseterre, St. Kitts, August 7 - (www.bcacricket.org) - Barbados’ inconsistent batting will again be put to a stern test on the third and final day of the fourth round match against Trinidad & Tobago in the Cricket West Indies (CWI) Under-19 Championship after they were set a winning target of 183.

Having made only 77 off 38.1 overs in the first innings with off-spinner Avinash Mahabirsingh grabbing five for 28 off 16.1 overs, the likelihood of Shavon Brooks’ side reaching their target appears fairly remote.

On a rain-hit second day’s play during which the entire session between lunch and tea was wiped out, Trinidad & Tobago rallied to 116 all out off 51 overs in the second innings, having recovered from 18 for four by the 20th over.

That effort was led by Sachin Seecharan, who followed his first innings top score of 53 with another leading performance of 40 off 45 balls including four fours and two sixes.

Seecharan, who batted at No. 6 in both innings, featured in a crucial fifth wicket stand of 50 in 14.1 overs with opener Leonard Francis, whose contribution was only five with Seecharan scoring 40.

Francis’ vigil eventually ended after scoring 17 in three hours off 140 balls. He was eighth out with the score 99.

Left-arm spinner Camarie Boyce maintained his impressive form by picking up three for 33 off 11 overs for a match haul of six for 68 off 30.2 overs. Boyce now has 29 wickets in the six-team Tournament.
