Nurse stars as Gladiola beat Pickwick in Sagicor General T20
Bridgetown, Barbados, May 7 - (www.bcacricket.org) - West Indies Twenty20 player Ashley Nurse produced a telling all-round performance to spur Gladiola to a seven-wicket win over ESA Field Pickwick in Series 1 of the 2017 BCA Sagicor General T20 Super 12 Championship today.
Playing in Zone 'B' at Foursquare Oval, Nurse took four for 15 off four overs in a total of 120 for eight off 20 overs.
He then scored an unbeaten 39 as Gladiola won with 2.4 overs to spare.
Rain led to no-decisions in the other two Zone 'B' matches at the Lodge school ground, Society - CounterPoint Wanderers v Crane Resort St. Catherine and Barbados Youth v BDFSP.
In Zone 'A' there were wins for title holders Sagicor Life UWI, Police and Massy Stores Spartan over H&B Hardware Supply Maple, ICBL Empire and Massy United Insurance Wildey.
UWI beat Maple by nine wickets on the Duckworth-Lewis method.
Sent in, Maple scored 103 for seven off 18.3 overs before rain intervened.
Collis Worrell topscored with 35 and Shane Parris made 28.
Medium-pacer Jonathan Carter was the leading wicket-taker with three for 21, while Nino Henry picked up two for 19.
Set a revised target of 48 in seven overs, UWI triumphed in just 4.1 overs, led by 23 from Nicholas Kirton.
A hurricane, unbeaten 75 from wicket-keeper/batsman Jamar Yearwood, led Police to a six-wicket over Empire, also on the Duckworth-Lewis method.
Chasing a revised target of 106 in 15 overs, Police won with 2.3 overs remaining.
Batting at No. 3, Yearwood slammed six fours and three sixes in his 47-ball knock after Police were 12 for two in the second over. He added 81 in 8.5 overs for the third wicket with Roger Williams (12).
Empire made 129 for six off 20 overs after losing the toss.
Nekoli Parris scored 46 off 51 balls including one boundary. Opener Justin Brathwaite lashed 35 off 18 balls with six fours and one six and Antonio Alleyne, 27.
Pacer Rasheed Padmore took three for 17 off four overs.
Spartan beat Wildey by 19 runs.
Sent in, Spartan made 142 for four off 20 overs.
Opener Rashidi Boucher led the way with 47 off 40 balls including three fours and two sixes. Stefon King scored 24 not out off 17 deliveries.
Wildey were restricted to 123 for four with David Carter scoring 39, fellow left-hander Shanaldo Taylor, 31 not out and Keegan Alleyne, 26.
Rain led to a no-decision between St. Catherine and Wanderers.
A heavy shower swept across the ground after St. Catherine, who were sent in, scored 150 for six.
Skipper Omar Phillips made 63 off 57 balls including eight fours.
Wet conditions resulted in not a ball being bowled between Barbados Youth and BDFSP.

Off-spinner Nurse took four for 15 and Dwayne Seale, three for 26 - both off four overs in a total of 120 for eight after Pickwick won the toss.
Nurse then scored 39 not out off 28 balls with four fours at No. 4 as Gladiola got home in 17.2 overs.
Cyprian Payne made 33 off 36 deliveries after fellow opener Randy Thomas set the stage with 24 off only 14 balls.
Michael Matthews took three for 18 off four overs.
