Three more centuries in Series 5 of BCS Under-13 Tournament
Bridgetown, Barbados, February 14 - (www.bcacricket.org) - Batsmen regained the spotlight as three centuries were recorded during the fifth series of the Barbados Cricket Supplies Under-13 competition on Sunday.
The centuries carried the overall number to a record nine so far for the season.
All three tons were unbeaten and were scored by openers Romario Roach (119), Macaiah Simmons (110) and Azari Best (109).
The highest total of the day came at Bayfield, where Co-operators General Insurance St. Catherine Juniors crushed Nassco YMPC Juniors by a whopping 238 runs.
The hosts’ 295 for one was their highest total ever in the tournament. The likes of Azari Best, with 109, Nimar Bolden (90) and Jayden Small with an unbeaten 50 turned on the heat.
Best, a second year student of Foundation and Bolden, also in second former, but at Combermere, put on 188 for the first wicket. Best and Small added an unfinished second-wicket partnership of 107.
In reply, YMPC Juniors could only muster 57. Medium-pacer Shaquan Belle picked up four for 13.
At Dayrells Road, title-holders Counterpoint Wanderers Juniors' wretched form continued as four-time champions Fusionz Boutique Passage Juniors handed them a 49-run defeat, their fourth straight loss including a hat-trick on home soil.
Micaiah Simmons cracked a run-a-ball 110 including 13 fours as Passage Juniors amassed 213 for three from the allotted 35 overs. Simmons, in his first year at Alexandra, had great support from Rashad Worrell (32 not out) and Zafar Lokhat with 30.
Despite a robust undefeated 53 off 40 balls including three fours and three sixes by the consistent Kamario Grant, Wanderers Juniors were dismissed for 164 in 32.1 overs.
At KMV Oval, Combermerian Romario Roach cracked 119 ((98 balls, 9x4, 4x6), as the unbeaten and Zone ‘B’ leaders RBC St. Philip Juniors made 230 for one. They easily beat Isolation Cavaliers by 128 runs, restricting them to 128 for six from 33 overs.
In the top-of-the- table clash of the unbeaten teams in Zone ‘A’ at Desmond Haynes Oval, Desmond Haynes Carlton Young Lions had a hard fought 36-run victory over CGM Gallagher Pickwick Juniors.
