URGENT: Foundation to clash with Isolation in BCA Intermediate division final after Spartan lose protest

Bridgetown, Barbados, December 12 - (www.bcacricket.org) - Christ Church Foundation School and Rocklyn Hardware Isolation Cavaliers will clash in the Final of the 2013 Barbados Cricket Association (BCA) Intermediate division championship at the Pickwick Club ground, Foursquare Oval, St. Philip on December 14, 15, 21 & 22.

It follows the dismissal of a protest by Super Centre Spartan against Foundation in their semi-final match, which ended in a draw at Dayrells Road with Foundation taking first innings lead last month.

Spartan had argued that Foundation included two schoolboys - all-rounder Aaron Jones and wicket-keeper/batsman Carlos Maynard - who did not play the required four matches to make them eligible for the semi-finals.

Jones and Maynard not only represented Guardian General Barbados Youth in the top BCA league championship - the LIME Elite - as well as the Sagicor General Twenty20 competition but they also played for the national Under-19 team in the regional Youth tournaments (three-day and limited overs) in St. Kitts this year.

In a Press release today, the BCA noted that "the Complaints and Disputes Committee duly heard the protest and dismissed the claim made by Spartan".

"The result of the semi-final game was therefore affirmed with Foundation winning on first innings and advancing to the Final against Rocklyn Hardware Isolation Cavaliers," the release added.

Isolation Cavaliers gained first innings lead against Barbados Defence Force in the other semi-final match at Friendship.

Play in the Final begins at 1 p.m on the first three days and at 12.30 p.m on the final day.

It will be the third BCA final for Foundation this season. The Church Hill school retained the Schools' Under-19 limited overs title and recently captured the Goddard Enterprises Schools' three-day championship. They were also the 2012 Sir Garfield Sobers International Schools' champions.

Isolation Cavaliers were the losing finalists in last season's Intermediate division competition.
