Lavine slams century but Barbados lose by 14 runs to Jamaica in WICB women’s championship
Georgetown, Guyana, August 15 (www.bcacricket.org) - Despite a fine century from veteran all-rounder Pamela Lavine, Barbados lost by 14 runs to defending champions Jamaica in the opening round of the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) Women's One-Day championship at Bourda here today.
Put in to bat, Jamaica amassed 206 for six from their allotted 50 overs. Shadene Nation topscored with 66.
For the Bajans, captain Danielle Small took three for 44 and Lavine two for 41 – both from ten overs.
Barbados were dismissed for 192 with 5.2 overs still to go. Player-of-the-Match Lavine hit a brilliant 113 including ten fours. Deandra Dottin, with 20 and Donna Ellis (19) were the only other double-figure contributors.
Jamaica beat Barbados by 14 runs.
