Friday, August 21 confirmed as date for replay of Empire-Carlton Sagicor General T20 final
August 14 – (www.bacricket.org) – Friday, August 21, has been confirmed as the date for the replay of the eagerly awaited 2009 BCA Sagicor General Twenty20 championship final between ICBL Empire and TeleBarbados Carlton under lights at Kensington Oval.
Rain forced an abandonment of play at the same venue on Wednesday, August 12 with Carlton on 61 for two off 11.3 overs after winning the toss.
Play had started promptly at 7 o’ clock before rain forced a stoppage at 7.42 p.m. Play was eventually called off at 9:54 p.m.
The Barbados Cricket Association has announced that the price of admission is still $15.00. However, on presentation of their ticket stubs from the previous match, patrons will be given a discount of $5.00.
BCA members in good standing and school children will be admitted free of charge.
Accommodation will again be in the Greenidge & Haynes stand. Play starts at 7 p.m. and gates will be open from 5.30 p.m.
This is the second year of the championship. CGI Maple were the 2008 champions, defeating Cable & Wireless (now LIME) by four runs in the final at the Police Sports Complex, Weymouth, on December 7.
The 2009 champions will again pocket $15 000 and the runners-up, $8 000.
Losing semi-finalists (Sagicor UWI and BNB St. Catherine) will earn $5 000 and the losing quarter-finalists (Police, Maple, LIME and Inspire Sports Wanderers) $3 000.
Individual awards are also at stake for the full championship: batsman scoring the fastest century (number of balls); batsman with the most runs; bowler with the most wickets; bowler with the best Economy Rate (must bowl a minimum of eight overs); fielder with the most catches; wicket-keeper with the most dismissals; and Most Outstanding All-rounder.
